Job Description:

Essential Functions Statement(s)
 
Under supervision and direction operations a blown film extrusion line:
  • Serves in an apprenticeship capacity with the first week of work spent training on extrusion line operation on the computer; eventually learn all aspects of extrusion line operations with maintenance time spent on the training computer as necessary; completes all assigned computer training certifications for an Extrusion Technician I and completes all assigned re-certifications.
  • Enters blend data into the computerized control system with correct percentages and densities, utilizes next orders and recipes with guidance.
  • Completes setup/process control check sheet to insure accuracy of all process settings;assures that set up procedures correspond with the work order and sales order.
  • Completes statistical process control documentation on the quality control check sheet and is certified to perform quality control procedures and documentation.
  • Assists in the packaging and labeling of finished film products, and can effectively perform the roll transfer procedure independently.
  • Able to navigate all functions of production scheduling computers.
  • Has an understanding of labeling and separating scrap product.
  • Has an understanding of thermolator operations.
  • Has an understanding of resin handling procedures, and ABS pumping systems.
  • Is able to set up film trim knives to proper web width and core alignments of all winders.
  • Identifies visual defects in film, i.e. gels, wrinkles, die lines, baggy film, scratches, cage marks, poor roll configuration, dull blades, etc. and will notify shift leader or lead extrusion tech.
  • Can demonstrate a basic understanding of winder tensions.
  • Assists experienced operators in extruder set up and with product changeovers.
  • Can effectively drain resin from hoppers; change augers; perform screen pack, die lip cleaning, trim knife setting and edge slitting procedures.
  • Assures a clean, safe work environment through regular housekeeping tasks.
  • Safely operates all power lifting devices and manual and powered pallet jacks (with the exception of forklift operation.)
  •  Conducts haul off start up procedure under supervision.
  • Performs adjustments to haul off settings, collapsing frame, side guides and bubble centering ring.
  • Can perform all normal threading procedures of a blown film extrusion line.
  •   Can assist in primary nip cleaning procedure.
  • Upon completion of certification tests can safely perform the following procedures or operate the following equipment:
  • Web guide
  • Die lip cleaning
  • Screen pack
  • Dosing units
  • Edge slitters
  • Web separation
  • Box pumping
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of trim systems operations
  • Effectively performs related duties as assigned.
