Job Title: Director of Youth Faith Formation - St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Position Summary

The Director of Youth Faith Formation at St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes is a full-time position responsible for coordinating a parish pastoral ministry for youth in grades 6-12 based on the US Bishops’, Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry. Since our Confirmation Preparation falls under our Youth Faith Formation, this position overlooks the preparation of the youth in the parish not attending a Catholic School to receive this sacrament.  Additionally, the Director of Youth Faith Formation is given charge of the care and outreach to all youth, those in our programs or not.  

 

Supervisor

The Director of Youth Faith Formation reports to the Pastor of St. Adalbert & St. Casimir Parishes.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

 

Coordinates the Youth Faith Formation Program for grades 6-12 and the Confirmation Program 

  • Youth Faith Formation Duties:

    • recruits and offers formation for the equipo members and other volunteers, including ensuring that they complete Safe Environment Training 

    • sets the curriculum and calendar for Youth Faith Formation nights

    • coordinates communication with parents 

    • operates within an established budget; monitors and fully accounts for spending and receipts

    • organizes fundraising events for the Youth Faith Formation Program

    • provides opportunities for other retreats and service projects for the youth, equipo and volunteers

    • forms relationships with community agencies and resources that interface with youth

    • find ways to reach and evangelize youth that are away from the Church

    • coordinates youth involvement in the annual Cinco de Mayo Festival and other parish events

  • Confirmation Duties:

    • organizes registration for Confirmation each year and keeps the official roster of students 

    • ensures that there are topics pertaining particularly to Confirmation Preparation in the Youth Faith Formation Program 

    • in charge of receiving names of sponsors and verifying that they meet all the requirements to be sponsors

    • in charge of receiving the saint names of the Confirmation Students and recording them

    • develops and maintains a Mass attendance program 

    • in charge of coordinating the service hours program 

    • offers opportunities for parent faith formation 

    • coordinates the annual Confirmation Retreat in consultation with the Middle School Religion Teacher of St. Adalbert School

    • prepares the Confirmation Mass in consultation with the Director of Liturgy and the Middle School Religion Teacher of St. Adalbert School

 

Professional and Spiritual Development

  • seeks continuing education and training in the fields of youth ministry and religious education and catechesis

  • participates in the spiritual formation opportunities offered by the parish for staff and in the yearly staff retreat

 

Other duties as specified by the Pastor

 

Qualifications

The Director of Youth Faith Formation needs to be a Roman Catholic in good standing in the Church with a strong commitment to the Catholic faith and a relationship with God. We do not look for particular degree fulfillments for this job, however, individuals with Pastoral and/or Theological Degrees are preferred.  The best candidate for this position is one who has a heart for youth, particularly Hispanic Youth, and a longing to facilitate for them an encounter with Christ. This candidate needs to be a strong leader who can take initiative and develop appropriate relationships with youth and lead them in their faith lives. This person is also an individual who can walk with our equipo members and other volunteers and form them in their ministry. Candidates with past pastoral experience, particularly with youth, are recommended. Familiarity in Spanish (verbal and written) is required to facilitate communication with parents.
