Parish Auditor
Classification:  Part-time, non-exempt, non-ministerial
Reports To:  Assistant Chief Financial Officer / Controller

Job Summary
The Parish Auditor assists the Assistant Chief Financial Officer / Controller of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. This position supports the work of the Assistant Chief Financial Officer / Controller of ensuring parish compliance with established diocesan accounting practices and completion of the parish audit function.

Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
  1. Examines and reviews yearly and monthly Parish Financial Statements and compares them against Diocesan records.
  2. Annually, creates school statistics reports for all Diocesan schools
  3. Assists with performing parish audits every two years for each parish.
  4. Prepares spreadsheets, control reports, and data analysis when requested.
  5. Helps assist parish business managers in Diocesan accounting practices.
  6. Protects the Diocese’s value by keeping information confidential.
  7. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education/Preferred Work Experience
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Previous accounting experience preferred.
     
Physical Demands
  • Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
  • Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly.
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to lift files, open filing cabinets, and for data entry purposes.
  • Frequently bend to file paperwork.
  • Must be able to speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally lift 5-10 pounds.
