Summary
Supports the mission of the Diocese of Ft.Wayne-South Bend through assisting in building maintenance, planning, expansion, and renovation projects.  Serves as a resource to parishes in assessing facility needs and provides support in planning and implementation of building or renovation projects. Responsible for maintenance, and rehabilitation of facilities in several locations, including the Archbishop Noll Center, Noll Hall, Bishop’s house, JPII Center, and the Diocesan Museum.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Directs new construction projects for diocesan-level facilities.  Consults and reviews with management project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, and procedures for accomplishing the project. 
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project contractors to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget. Develops and maintains project documentation.  Prepares project status reports and keeps management and others informed of project status and related issues.   
  • Assists parishes with new construction and renovation project planning and facilitates plan review.  Guides projects through a prescribed diocesan process of design and construction and assists in the interviewing and selection of the architectural/engineering and construction teams. Attends regularly scheduled construction meetings and project closeout reviews. 
  • Interacts with several consultative groups at the parish and diocesan levels in planning new construction or major renovation projects.    Serves as staff to the Diocesan Building and Improvements Committee and coordinates meeting and other arrangements for presentations.  Commits to assisting parishes in a competent, professional manner as the Diocese and the parish work together to complete the project.  
  • Pro-actively inspects parish buildings according to a set schedule and assists parishes in developing a planned maintenance program by surveying and recording existing facilities conditions to evaluate and address immediate term, short term and long-term needs.  Inspection reports are distributed to the Diocesan Bishop, the Vicar General, The Diocesan Buildings and Grounds Committee, and the Pastor of the parish to be shared with the parish Business Manager, the parish Buildings and Grounds Committee, and the parish Finance Council.  Facilitates meetings of  parish maintenance personnel and parish business managers to provide opportunities for training and a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences.    
  • Oversees inventory and monitoring of all diocesan properties and furnishings.  Developes written procedures to follow and provides assistance to parishes relative to their property when parishes close or are reconfigured.   
  • Prepares, administers, and analyzes departmental budget.  Monitors revenue and expenses.  Approves invoices. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Experience in construction or the construction process

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
One to two years related experience and/or training
Previous supervisory and project management experience. 

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
