Intelligere - Independent Contractor Interpreter

Intelligere is looking to partner with qualified, professional interpreters who will be responsible for facilitating daily cross-cultural communication between limited English speaking individuals, family members and others, along with medical providers and staff. The interpreter will serve as a cultural and language resource to all parties.


  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Active status on the Minnesota Spoken Language Health Care Interpreter Roster
  • 40 Hours of interpreter training required or willingness to complete
  • Agreement to participate in Department of Human Services Background Check
  • Two or more years of interpreting experience required
  • High School or GED Required, some college education preferred
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Spoken fluency in all languages listed on application
    • Proof of fluency exam or sign-up for one through Intelligere
  • Reading and written fluency in all languages listed on application
    • Proof of fluency exam or sign-up for one through Intelligere
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Code of Ethics, as outlined by the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care
  • Ability to understand and use technology (online portal and/or mobile application) or the willingness to learn
  • Ability to pass a medical terminology examination


  • Provision of interpreter services for non-English or limited English speaking individuals and companions/family members
  • Sight translation as needed for medical forms
  • Complete a minimum of 8 Continuing Education Units per year
  • Complete required training annually (HIPAA, Fraud & Waste, etc.)
  • Stay up-to-date on all required medical immunizations
