Goldberg Segalla, a dynamic and rapidly growing law firm with a national practice, employs highly motivated and organized individuals who provide Workers' Compensation attorneys with legal assistant support.  This job is responsible for assisting with a wide range of legal tasks that enhance the attorneys’ effectiveness.  Job duties will include, but it is not limited to, opening and closing files, completing budgets, drafting documents, calendaring deadlines, sending reports to clients and saving to the document management system. This position requires knowledge of law offices common practices and the legal field.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Regularly required to physically operate routine office equipment such as telephones, computers, printers, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Outlook, Calendar and Excel.
  • Ability to handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently on the telephone and via electronic communication. 
  • Must be able to organize and maintain documents in the firm’s document management software system.
  • Knowledge of legal documents and terminology as it relates to Workers’ Compensation such as subpoenas, Affidavits of Service and Affirmations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with filings including PH-16.2/OC-400.5, appeals, rebuttals, and RFA-2
  • Draft and complete Affidavit of Service
  • Calendar placeholders
  • Save all emails, documents and filings in the document management system
  • Send out hearing reports, interim reports, and deposition reports
  • Open files and complete information sheets
  • Close files and maintain closing tracker
  • Coordinate witness prep
  • Maintain hearing report trackers
  • Assist with completing and circulating post hearing directives
  • Assist with budgets and rejected invoices
  • Serve surveillance and assist with evidence cover letter
  • Release iTimekeep entries
  • Daily reminder of deadlines
  • Organize and reassign documents and emails from 18000 folder

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
  • Associates Degree or higher
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Excellent writing and telephone communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Teamwork oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation legal practice.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and principles.
  • Knowledge of medical and insurance claims terminology. 
  • Ability to analyze legal documents and ensure accuracy.

Benefits: 

This role offers an hourly salary and bonus opportunity. The hourly salary range for this position is $21.00 to $31.00. Actual pay may be adjusted based on experience and other job related factors permitted by law. This position also offers a full benefits package.
