This position may be for you! You will be supporting the agency with identifying and maximizing the value of electronic products that come through our donation stream. The Recompute Technician supports Goodwill’s Triple Bottom Line goal towards a sustainable future through refurbishing electronics, which support Goodwill’s sales channels. The Recompute Technician works under the direction of the Recompute leadership.

  •        Test Data Products for functionality, resell and/or appropriate disposal
  •        Dismantle/Rebuild electronics/computers to maximize value
  •        Erase personal data from all electronics
  •        Test and clean basic household electronics
  •        Sort materials for Recycle, Recompute, and other streams
  •        Sort E-waste, Hazardous Material and Universal Waste for proper disposal
  •        Sort and label electronic materials by category and place in proper containers and area
  •        Receive and ship all process materials; process unsorted materials by using warehouse tools (forklifts, pallets jacks, etc.)
  •        Ensure the safety and destruction of data from donated equipment
  •        Participate in all training activities to acquire skills on the job
  •        Learn and apply company policies, procedures and guidelines to complete assigned duties
  •        Maintain a safe, secure and clean working environment at all time
  •        Maintain and understand importance of high-security environment; give special attention to deterring theft and reporting suspicious activity when appropriate
  •        Maintains documentation for operation
  •        Perform other related duties as assigned
  •        Less than 1 year of related experience
  •        Prior experience with Computer Testing preferred
  •        Prior experience with Technology refurbishing preferred
  •        Read and write English proficiently, or have enrolled in and are on track to successfully complete an approved ESL program
  •        Basic mathematical skills
  •        Ability to work respectfully and cooperatively with diverse group of individuals from a variety of educational, social and economic backgrounds
  •        Respects and has knowledge of cultures, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with all
  •        Follow workplace quality and safety standards and contribute to a culture of safety
  •        Receptive to feedback, willing to learn and embrace continuous improvement
  •        Strive for high customer satisfaction, going out of the way to be helpful and pleasant
  •        Able to work flexible hours including but not limited to weekend and holidays
  •        Knowledge of how to safely operate and test household electronics
  •        Able to consistently lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  •        Able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period of time
