GPTech is seeking a Sustainable Infrastructure Engineer with a background in civil/humanitarian engineering to support the Sustainable Infrastructure practice area on domestic and international development projects funded by national, state, and local agencies. The Sustainable Infrastructure Engineer will assist with planning, designing, and managing programs of vertical and horizontal infrastructure projects in energy, transportation, water, and structures, while meeting deliverables such as technical analyses and reports. The position also will endeavor to ensure work aligns with relevant codes and standards. The ideal candidate will be organized, results driven, detail oriented, and able to execute independently with a high level of accuracy. The position will be located in the Washington, DC, metro area, with occasional travel to client or project sites.

Responsibilities
- Conduct civil engineering planning, assessment, analysis, design, review, and report writing.
- Prepare construction schedules and cost estimates.
- Work with Chief of Party or program management team to support various tasks, including tracking deliverables, preparing meeting minutes, and communicating with stakeholders.
- Work with practice area lead to develop and improve processes and assist in quality assurance and quality control.
- Develop targeted communications (e.g., white papers, fact sheets, research summaries, briefings).
- Facilitate project meetings and/or summarize proceedings.
- Provide project management support.
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders.
- Contribute to company growth and business development through creating and improving communications products and supporting business capture strategies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university or similar degree from a related field (e.g., engineering, architecture, construction management) and demonstrated knowledge of civil engineering
- Specific experience pertaining to engineering or construction in vertical or horizontal infrastructure in civil or energy infrastructure projects
- Experience managing tasks and supporting project management
- Familiarity with cost estimating and budgeting
- Experience preparing communications for wide-ranging audiences
- Eligibility to work in the United States and obtain security clearance
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English
- Proficiency with software tools for research, analysis, reporting, communications, and collaboration, including AutoCAD/Microstation and structural analysis software
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in humanitarian, civil (or related) engineering, or public policy/international development
- Prior experience in developing country infrastructure or energy programs or projects (experience may include volunteer work with organizations such as Engineers Without Borders)
- Knowledge of overall humanitarian and sustainable infrastructure sector challenges, opportunities, and solutions, including participatory development, disaster risk, environmental issues, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and infrastructure reliability and resiliency
- Fluency in French, Spanish, Arabic, or other language relevant to international development work
