GPTech is seeking a Sustainable Solutions Director to lead solutions focused on sustainable energy, infrastructure, and development. This position is located in Arlington, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Develop goals for GPTech’s sustainability solutions (energy, infrastructure, and development) that adhere to the mission statement and create success metrics to track and report on progress.
- Develop strategic plans to successfully govern solution and practices. Brief progress on meeting goals at weekly leadership meeting, weekly practice meetings, and ad-hoc meetings.
- Work closely with GPTech Practice Area leads to develop a consistent approach to project execution that becomes an integral part of the firm’s delivery model.
- Continuously assess technical and operational risks, clearly explain risk interactions, and identify credible mitigation strategies.
- Engage and maintain strong industry relationships within the client base, as well as overall marketplace, to facilitate development of strong strategic relationships.
- Lead and develop team of direct reports; act as a mentor at all levels.
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct performance reviews, and recommend salary adjustments.
- Adhere to established project management processes.
- Promote an “Excellence through the Solution” culture; assist in corporate quality initiatives and improvement on corporate quality manual
- Participate in professional associations and conferences.
- Work closely with GPTech VP of Business Development to identify opportunities, provide proposal support (e.g., include technical/management approach write-ups), and provide capabilities briefs to prospective clients.
- Create GPTech-branded solutions and bring these to market.
- Promote innovation within solutions and lead GPTech’s innovation practices.
- Support and monitor the sustainable solutions area budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
- Master’s degree in science, engineering, business (MBA), or public administration (MPA) preferred
- 15+ years of relevant professional experience in key aspects of the design, development, construction /implementation, and operation of solutions supporting the sustainable development goals
- 10+ years of experience working for or supporting U.S. Federal agencies, such as MCC, USAID, USACE, USTDA, and DOE
- 7+ years of demonstrated experience leading and managing people and teams in a matrix organization, with a record reflecting the ability to effectively delegate, communicate with, and motivate staff
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure on multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to translate (written and verbal) complex issues into easily understandable formats for a range of stakeholder audiences
- Willingness to travel to developing countries worldwide
- Proven project management skills and experience in designing, managing, and delivering high-quality projects on time
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and advanced spreadsheet/database skills
- Superb oral and written communication and presentation skills in a range of formats, to include briefings, reports, media, articles, and blogs
- Eligible to work in the United States and obtain a top security clearance
- Fluent in English; fluency in other language a plus
