GPTech is seeking a Cold Storage Warehouse Energy Consultant to support the company’s initiative to provide energy management services to the global cold chain industry. The selected candidate will have senior-level experience with the design and operation of a range of cold storage warehouses and industrial refrigeration technologies, with emphasis on approaches for driving down energy consumption and complying with evolving regulations. The incumbent will report to the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and will routinely coordinate with the Energy Services Practice Area Director. Initially this consulting role will focus on developing energy service opportunities with cold chain warehouse companies. This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel expected to the Washington, DC, area for meetings at the GPTech home office, as well as to relevant industry and stakeholder events.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives in developing a strategy for outreach to cold chain industry members, facilitated by Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) membership and event participation, with the goal of developing pilot projects to demonstrate GPTech energy management services.
- Provide technical expertise on cold storage warehouses, industrial refrigeration systems, and their operations to GPTech, as well as directly in dealings with prospective clients in the cold chain industry.
- Lead 1–2 short (up to 1-hour) educational sessions on opportunities for reducing energy costs at cold storage warehouses, including equipment retrofit and operations optimization, if sanctioned or requested by GCCA or cold chain industry members.
- Support GPTech in providing input to and reviewing targeted marketing material for providing energy services to the cold chain industry.
- Participate in meetings as requested, and provide feedback and recommendations to GPTech.
- Coordinate with industry members and stakeholders as directed.
- Support pilot project planning through technical and strategic inputs, and support presentation to prospective industry clients.
Qualifications:
- Senior-level experience (10 years or more preferred) with design and operation of cold storage warehouse industrial refrigeration systems, including knowledge of ways to reduce energy costs and tradeoffs between major system options.
- College degree or technical training consistent with design and operations of cold storage warehouses and industrial refrigeration systems.
- Experience with cold storage warehouse business and operations models.
- Demonstrated ability to complete research and reporting assignments (via prior academic or professional samples).
- Proficiency with software tools for analysis, reporting, communications, and collaboration, and ability to learn, use, and master a variety of additional office software tools as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer license and Association of Energy Engineers Certified Energy Manager certification.
- Prior technical consulting experience.
- Advanced degree with a focus relevant to this position.
