Senior Recruiter and Candidate Developer

This is an exciting time to join the Gurtin team given our recent partnership with PIMCO, one of the world’s premier fixed income investment managers with more than 2,500 professionals around the world managing $1.7 trillion AUM.  PIMCO and Gurtin have joined forces to become the leader in the municipal asset class with combined municipal assets of $40B as of June 30th, 2019. 

We are seeking a creative, innovative professional to assist with the implementation of the Gurtin recruiting strategy: including building out the recruitment infrastructure, sourcing and interviewing candidates, developing candidate networks, and aligning and integrating recruitment processes with PIMCO given our recent partnership. Reporting to a VP of Recruiting at PIMCO and working closely with the Gurtin HR team, the senior recruiter will be responsible for driving a seamless, consistent recruitment processes for all key stakeholders, with the goal to bring, best in class recruitment and retention practices to the firm. Gurtin employees are our most valuable assets and the key ingredient that promotes and perpetuates our distinguished excellence within the financial industry. Additionally, the senior recruiter will work closely with the PIMCO talent acquisition team in Newport Beach and New York to align best practices and actively source candidates for multiple roles firm wide

JOB DESCRIPTION 

We are looking for a 7+ year search professional to join our talent acquisition team in Solana Beach, CA. This is a hybrid role and our newest colleague will conduct searches full life cycle for Gurtin Municipal Bond Management as well as partner with PIMCO Senior Recruiters in New York and Newport Beach to drive candidate sourcing efforts. This recruiter/candidate developer will lead a range of searches at a variety of career levels across the firm.

Gurtin/PIMCO is in the process of building the top talent acquisition team in asset management across the globe, and this hire is integral to our effort.  A successful professional in this position will quickly learn our core strengths and industry, engage Gurtin managers, and identify the best and brightest with direct recruitment strategies.  Additionally, he or she will ensure that every search has a diverse candidate sourcing component and that we are effectively partnering across HR to best serve our internal clients. 

RESPONSIBILITIES – Full Life Cycle Recruiter (Gurtin Municipal Bond Management)
  • Full-life cycle recruiting for a range of roles and career levels across Gurtin;
  • Partner with hiring managers to determine optimal hiring profile and sourcing strategy;
  • Create comprehensive candidate research often including the mapping of top competing firms;
  • Partner with the compensation team, HR generalists, and hiring teams to formulate and deliver offers;       
  • Coordinate the interview process in accordance with Gurtin guidelines;
  • Share best practices and identify continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Maintain the accuracy, quality and integrity of all information in ATS;      

RESPONSIBILITIES – Candidate Developer (PIMCO)
  • Develop diverse slates of candidates through a range of methods including, but not limited to, internally developed research, internet sourcing, networking, referrals, and applicants;
  • Partner with recruiters, hiring managers, and researchers to determine optimal hiring profile and sourcing strategy;
  • Partner with members of the Executive office on Inclusion, Diversity, and Culture (IDC) initiatives;
  • Share best practices and identify continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Actively partner with the campus recruiting and EMEA talent acquisition teams to share best practices and provide a seamless service to internal clients;   
  • The ability to coach and mentor teammates as well as the desire to learn from colleagues.    

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Meaningful talent acquisition experience in roles with progressively more responsibility;
  • Five+ years’ experience working as a corporate recruiter or for a search firm as either a recruiter or research associate;
  • Must be client centric, highly collaborative, and possess a team-first attitude
  • Demonstrated track record with creative sourcing methods via networking, organizations, internet, referrals, investment data providers, and direct recruiting;
  • Proven ability to provide outstanding customer services to the candidates as well as client base; serve as an ambassador, representing Gurtin and PIMCO in the candidate market
  • Strong credibility and presence, and the ability to work with hiring managers across a variety of personalities;
  • Strong interviewing/assessment skills and ability to influence and close candidates in highly competitive situations
  • Strong market mapping candidate research and skills required;
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with strong organizational skills; strong prioritization skills with proven track record of adapting to quickly changing business needs;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills required;
  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Business, Management or Finance; advanced degree a bonus.
  
COMPENSATION:
Base compensation is commensurate with experience, and bonus is at the discretion of management.  This is a full-time position and includes all benefits provided to full-time employees of the firm.
