Your Responsibilities

In your role, you will have the opportunity to take on a wide variety of tasks. Some examples are:
  • Support marine studies, including fieldwork and desktop research.
  • Prepare technical reports.
  • Provide technical and regulatory experience on projects that interact with marine environments.
  • Draft sections of environmental assessments.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies.

The Essentials

You are solutions oriented and have the following skills:
  • A university degree in marine biology or a related field.
  • Four or more years of experience.
  • Experience leading and conducting marine biology programs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to think independently and strategically, maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated and employ a strong work initiative.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

Bonus Points

The following attributes may give you a competitive edge:
  • A master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • A professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio or P.Biol.) or eligibility for a designation.
  • Experience working with federal regulators on permits and authorizations.
  • Experience with offsetting and habitat compensation in the marine environment.
  • Project management experience or a PMP certification.
  • Experience with client liaison and business development.

The role is based in our Burnaby office, but you may be required to travel throughout BC and across Canada and Internationally for short periods of time. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing you being located in our Victoria office or one of our satellite offices.
