 JOB SUMMARY
The Litigation Specialist provides assistance to the Case Manager to ensure that the department meets its requirements in serving customers and claimants.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist Case Manager with attorney oversight and file related tasks, as well as providing support to prepare litigation of files
  • Maintain an active diary of claims and execute legal strategy as directed by Case Manager
  • Receive claims related lawsuits; evaluate, prioritize, and assign responsibilities to vendors, desk adjusters and/or legal partners
  • Track and analyze litigation file status
  • Ensure litigation deadlines are met by closely monitoring litigation files status and providing routine status reports including task completion reports, completion schedules, and pursuit of closing documents
  • Prepare and send complex correspondence concerning the claims adjustment process as directed by the Case Manager
  • Collect and compile data; tracking various aspects of the claims adjustment process
  • Organize claims files by type; handle necessary filing of correspondence and claims files
  • Assist as needed with imaging documents and other correspondence to ensure claim files have all the detail required for proper handling and resolution
  • Maintain historical archives related to outside partners to facilitate the expeditious retrieval of information so that claims staff and others within the company may quickly and efficiently accomplish their respective responsibilities
  • Adjust reserves or provide reserve recommendations to ensure that reserve activities are consistent with company practices and procedures.  Issue checks when needed.
  • Adhere to Florida insurance rules and regulations as well as HCI’s Best Practices
 
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Possess knowledge and experience in first party property claims and litigation
  • Detail-oriented with great organizational skills
  • Diligent use and reliance upon a diary system for systematic tracking and processing of claims through the process
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of equivalent experience and education
 
EXPERIENCE
•          5+ years property claims adjusting experience, with direct experience in litigation or pre-litigation claims handling
•          Functional knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques
•          Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in the State of Florida
 
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • Florida 6-20 All-Lines Adjusters License
