 JOB SUMMARY
The Claims QA Examiner has responsibility for auditing, monitoring, and reporting on the quality of claims processed by the Homeowners Choice Claims Department. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Re-inspect estimating and claim handling completed by company examiners, independent adjusters, contractors, mitigation companies, vendors, and others
  • Review all aspects of claim handling per the Homeowners Choice Guidelines
  • Review complex coverage decisions for accuracy per the policy
  • Review structural estimating for accuracy per Homeowners Choice Guidelines, code requirements, and good general construction practices
  • Be adept in and use property and casualty expertise and industry knowledge to recommend and implement change when needed
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced claims professionals to increase the technical expertise and improve team strength
  • Ensure compliance of all statutory regulations and Unfair Claim Practice Acts
  • Settle complex claims on request
  • May work in a catastrophe environment for extended periods of time handling re-inspections, re-writes of estimates, supplements, and settlements as necessary
  • Remain current on technological and claims process trends in the industry
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Xactimate experience required
  • Extensive knowledge of single and multifamily construction methods
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Effectively communicate through oral and written communications with all internal and external customers of the claims department
  • Diligent use and reliance on a diary system for systematic tracking and processing of claims
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products required (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Ability to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and rapid changes in schedule
  • Work independently and remain self-motivated with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong organization skills and close attention to detail 
  • Good time management and strong analytical skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required
EDUCATION & TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of equivalent experience and education
  • Strong knowledge of Homeowners Choice policies and procedures

EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of direct homeowners' property and casualty claims processing experience
  • 2+ years quality assurance experience

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
  • 5-20 or 6-20 Florida Adjuster’s license in good standing
