Heart of Texas Region MHMR Center- Direct Support Professional 1667 (Waco, TX)

Direct Support Professional for the Respite house work as a team to provide training and support to individuals who require assistance to live in the community. Duties include:

transporting consumers to and assisting them with activities
training and assisting consumers in completing household chores (cooking, cleaning, laundry, hygiene)
providing input regarding client needs and progress in interdisciplinary meetings
monitoring consumers as a team for safety and reporting any concerns to supervisor or RN

Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions

Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding for inputting documentation
Excellent verbal/telephone communication with consumers, staff, and community providers
Organizational and filing skills and time management needed for maintaining records
Stooping, bending, sitting, standing for prolonged periods and lifting 50-75 pounds
Ability to be CPR and SAMA certified
Valid driver's license, liability insurance, and reliable transportation required

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED
6 months work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities strongly preferred
Valid Driver's License and proof of Liability Insurance Required

Hours: As needed

Salary: $10.50/hour

Location: 39th Street GH, Waco TX
