ISL has a new and exciting opportunity for a consulting archaeologist to join a growing heritage division within the established Environmental Management Team.  The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting the growth and development of ISL’s new heritage service.

A Little About You
Your cover letter must demonstrate:
  • Your approach to relationship-building with internal and external clients, strategic partners, regulators, and First Nations

Your resume should show us:
  • A graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or an undergraduate degree with equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of consulting experience in archaeology
  • Proficient in drafting and reviewing regulatory permit applications, First Nation permit applications, and detailed technical reports
  • Strong relationship-building skills with regulatory, First Nation and industry in an accountable capacity, while safeguarding institutional credibility and public image
  • Proven ability to develop and implement solutions to sensitive and complex projects while coordinating heritage assessments within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Proven analytical and planning skills

Bonus points for:
  • Registered Professional in good standing with an industry related association
  • Ministry-recognized field director and permit holder
  • A comprehensive understanding of issues relating to cultural heritage, archaeology, including historic and current Aboriginal issues
  • Practical understanding of BC’s Heritage Conservation Act, Environmental Assessment Act, and other relevant legislation


A Little More About the Role
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all our BC offices with their Archeology requirements.  They will also be required to possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Work closely with the senior team to provide successful cultural resources management for our clients projects 
  • Support business development activities
  • Coordinate and manage archaeological programs including field and desktop studies
  • Technical writing and report preparation
