A Little About You
Your cover letter must demonstrate:
- Experience with or interest in developing skills in Structural Engineering
- Your approach to creative problem solving and decision making
Your resume should show us:
- Education with relevant focus
- Registration as an EIT or eligible to register
- Education/ knowledge of seismic design
- Education/knowledge of application of structural theory, the National Building Code of Canada (NBC 2020), the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (S6) and Canadian Design Standards (O86, S16, A23.3)
- Experience with structural analysis software such as CSiBridge, SAP2000 and SFRAME
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Project
Bonus points for:
- Experience with BIM software (Revit)
- Experience with construction
- Experience with report writing
- Post Graduate level education
A Little More About the Role
Responsibilities:
Your projects will primarily be located in the ISL Burnaby office, but you will have the opportunity to work on multidisciplinary projects across all of the ISL offices.
- Prepare detailed structural engineering designs from concept, through tender to construction for a wide variety of projects. Starting with individual task moving to systems and whole project life cycle
- Assemble and review structural deliverables in collaboration with other team members
- Review and coordinate deliverables with other project team members including architectural, civil, landscape, process, mechanical, electrical, contractors and suppliers as each project requires
- Participate in project meetings as needed
- Complete assessments and prepare reports for various buildings and structures
- Support construction administration objectives and perform field reviews, including travel to remote locations (a valid driver’s license and ability to drive ISL’s fleet vehicles are required)
- Observe and maintain quality assurance practices and documentation standards on all projects
- Creating and/or leveraging custom spreadsheets and MCAD sheets
- Be a lifelong learner, stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies
- Collaborate with, advise, and assist team members in other groups and offices
- Other related duties as assigned
