A Little About You

Your cover letter must demonstrate:

Your resume should show us:
  • Has obtained or is working towards a degree in Accounting, Finance, a B.Comm or other relevant fields
  • 3-5 years project accounting experience
  • Knowledge of project accounting concepts and principles gained through training and/or work experience
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office and ERP application skills

Bonus points for:
  • Experience in consulting engineering
  • Knowledge of BST Enterprise, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or Deltek
  • Experience with Power BI

A Little More About the Role


Reporting to the CFO and Project Operations lead, this position is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to be responsible for the various aspects of project accounting. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers on all aspects of the process – from project expenditures, budgets, and reporting to the accounts receivable collection process.  While no two days will look the same, here are some things that you can expect to do:

  • Monthly invoicing for all assigned Project Managers
  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals and any additional services related to billings
  • Ensure that month-end deadlines and reporting requirements are met
  • Identify and resolve inconsistencies and issues with Project Managers
  • Assist with processing subcontractor invoices
  • Assist with project expenditure and budget process while working with various project managers
  • Assist Project Managers in the preparation of project data sheets, billing, supporting schedules, project closures, and maintenance of revenue and budget adjustments
  • Implement ISL’s internal dashboard and BST Enterprise improvements, including participation of ongoing conceptual design, detailed design, configuration, testing, training, and support of the system
  • Review of Work in Progress and Accounts Receivable aging schedules, collection of outstanding invoices
  • Review of all data sheets for the company for completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare GST, HST and PST submissions monthly
  • Training and supporting PM’s on ISL’s internal dashboard
  • Monthly follow up on aged AR
  • Work with the audit team to answer questions and compile back up as requested
  • Assist/support the accounting team as needed, including ad-hoc requests
