A Little About You

Your cover letter must demonstrate:
  • How you prioritize work and manages multiple demands
  • Your approach to leadership skills including mentoring and growing others

Your resume should show us:
  • P.Eng. designation with registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in bridge design and construction inspection
  • Structural engineering project experience in the transportation infrastructure field: bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other heavy civil projects
  • Proficiency with CSA S6 Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and Canadian Design Standards for concrete, steel, and wood
  • Proficiency with CSiBridge and SAP2000, (or equivalent design software)
  • Thorough understanding of the production of contract drawings and specifications related of reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, and structural steel
  • Knowledge of construction practices in bridge and heavy civil projects

Bonus points for:
  • Working knowledge of Alberta Transportation and City of Edmonton standards and documents
  • Proficiency with Autodesk BIM workflows including Infraworks and Revit
  • Construction contract administration experience


A Little More About the Role

Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day
  • Take work from concept through to design and then to construction – preparing detailed structural engineering designs for a wide variety of projects including bridges, and heavy civil engineering structures
  • Lead project teams through effective management and coordination of design engineers, technicians, and field engineers
  • Leverage your effective communication, interpersonal and analytical skills to collaborate and coordinate with other ISL disciplines to meet multi-discipline and client needs
  • Complete assessments and prepare reports for new design, load ratings, and rehabilitation/retrofit of existing structures
  • Assume responsibility for structural design as Engineer of Record
  • Support construction administration objectives and perform construction field reviews (valid driver’s license required)
  • Review shop drawings and other submittals during construction phase, respond to RFIs
  • Write technical memos and reports
  • Participate in project meetings
  • Observe and maintain quality assurance practices and documentation standards on all projects
  • Contact suppliers and Contractors for information and quotes
  • Assist in preparation of Contract documents
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals in response to requests for our services

  • Assemble and review structural deliverables in collaboration with other team members
  • Review and coordinate deliverables with other multi-disciplinary project team members
  • Collaborate with, advise, and assist team members in other groups and offices

  • Actively coach, guide and mentor developing team members
  • Perform peer reviews, design checks, and provide feedback on work prepared by others
