Position Summary

The Development Assistant for Individual Giving will join a dynamic team of Advancement professionals at the Clark Art Institute who seek to develop strong relationships that result in long-lasting philanthropic support; this community of supporters benefits the Clark’s mission to advance and extend the public understanding of art.

This position will provide key support for the Senior Development Officer for Planned Giving and Stewardship as well as the Senior Development Officer for Individual Giving and other Advancement colleagues as needed. This person will assist with the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual donors through research, arranging meetings, drafting correspondence, and tracking progress in the Advancement database and related files. This role will interact with colleagues across the museum as well as the larger Clark community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
 
  • Assist with drafting, producing, and mailing of proposals, invitations, reports, acknowledgements, catalogues, and other correspondence as assigned.
  • Support Senior Development Officers’ work by scheduling meetings, arranging trips, and other activities related to engaging prospects and donors.
  • Track budgets for specific initiatives as needed.
  • Work with the Development Officer for Operations and Advancement Coordinator to optimize the use of the database to ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor information.
  • Assist with special events as needed.
  • Provide administrative support when needed, including but not limited to: answering phones, taking messages, filing, directing questions to the appropriate source of information, tracking event guest lists and responses to help ensure the effective operation of the Advancement Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hiring Hourly Rate Range: $19.25-21.10

Minimum Qualifications


Education, Training, and Skills
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities; continually seeking ways to improve.
  • Comfortable with learning new systems/technology. Previous experience working with Microsoft Suite and constituent databases preferred.
  • Understanding of the need to be responsible for own outcomes and take pride in delivering the best possible work product.
  • Maintain a team-oriented approach and contribute to a collegial workplace while also having the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as required for special events.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.

Work Experience
 
  • Minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience.

  • Physical Demands: This position requires sitting at a desk/workstation and using a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Overnight travel will be necessary.
