JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the safe loading and delivery of equipment, supplies, and materials to various locations. 

REPORTS TO:       Dispatcher

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs day-to-day deliveries of heavy equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Performs deliveries in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Perform the safe loading, unloading, and delivering of equipment, materials, or poles.
  • Operate vehicles safely and in compliance with all traffic laws.
  • Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires.  Report irregularities to supervisor and/or shop supervisor.
  • Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED, and a minimum of one (1) prior driving experience required.
  • Valid NYS CDL-A required.
  • Tanker and hazmat endorsements a plus. Reimbursement for completion upon a passing test.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable in operation of wide range of construction equipment.
  • Knowledgeable and able to demonstrate proper load securement.
  • NYSDOT and FMSCA regulations knowledge and compliance are essential.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Good decision-making ability.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to concentrate and maintain focus.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing demands.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon passing a DOT Physical, drug screen, background check and driver's license check, and candidates must maintain passing results throughout the term of employment with P&CG.
