Role Overview
McElhanney Ltd. is looking for an expert Water Resources Engineer in stormwater management to support our projects through preparing stormwater reports, master drainage plans, and other drainage design for both municipal and transportation projects. This is an expanding field for the Calgary branch, so a desire and ability to grow the business by identifying new opportunities, thinking like the client, and building a team is critical.

Responsibilities
  • Model and analyze surface water flows, underground storm systems, design stormwater retention / management facilities, evaluate small dams, and design hydraulic structures.
  • Provide advice and consultation on regulatory and legislative issues surrounding water resource projects. Coordinate with approval agencies to make these projects happen.
  • Coordinate technical delivery between different inter-disciplinary groups.
  • Pursue new business opportunities and lead proposal development for municipal, transportation, and resource-related projects.
  • Mentor junior staff and assist in identifying and filling new roles as the business grows.

Requirements
  • Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.).
  • 7+ years of experience in rural and urban water resources.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must.
  • Experience with City of Calgary standards and approvals processes is required. Experience with projects in British Columbia is a significant plus.
  • Knowledge of Low Impact Development (LID)  principles is very desired.
  • Track record of pursuing new water-related projects and delivering great results to clients.
