The Opportunity 
McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Land Development Engineer to join our team in Edmonton, AB. In this role, you will collaborate on a variety of small and medium scale commercial and residential projects. You will be supporting our Land Development Lead, and your role will be to advance designs and obtain necessary development permitting.  This is a great opportunity to advance your career into Project Management if desired or the role can be strictly technical.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents for various land development projects.
  • Support projects from proposal stage through commissioning of the work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work under minimal supervision.
  • Manage all submissions for initial quality review.
  • Develop cost estimates.
  • Generate invoices for clients and track against agreed client budgets.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering with at least 5 years of progressive experience in the design and management of land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in Alberta, or eligibility to be registered.
  • Knowledge of Northern Alberta area land development markets and processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with a desire to work in a thriving environment.
  • Experience with all government levels, construction contractors, and developers is an asset.
  • High productivity, attention to detail, and an ability to work well as a team player.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil3D considered an asset.
