McElhanney has a unique opportunity for an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our team in the Okanagan region of BC. As an intermediate engineer, you will join an engineering team that spans the Okanagan Valley and beyond, managing and leading projects and designs. In this role, your primary responsibilities are to lead diverse civil projects, provide detailed design support in production of engineering designs, drawings, and specifications, and assist in pursuit, project management, proposal and delivery of local and regional projects.

 What You’ll Be Doing: 

  • Work with the other Project Managers and Engineers in the region to manage and deliver high-quality projects throughout the Okanagan region and beyond.
  • Provide detailed production of engineering assessments, designs, drawings and specifications for various municipal and private land development civil projects
  • Design opportunities include water and wastewater infrastructure, transportation, retaining structures, erosion protection, grading and drainage design, site servicing
  • Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
  • Coordinate field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.

 What You’ll Bring: 
  • P.Eng with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Proficiency in the application of specialized design software such as Civil 3D
  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment is an asset, but not required
  • High productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment.
