Role Overview
The McElhanney Group Ltd. is seeking a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Analyst to join our growing team. We are seeking a bold individual that has solid project accounting experience, with the ability to train others on system functionality and project analysis. In this role, you will work closely with our Engineering & Surveying Project Managers and Branch Administrators to oversee project accounting functions including revenue recognition, WIP and Variance monitoring, and project profitability analysis.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and is willing to travel to offices located in Western Canada and the U.S.


Responsibilities
  • Oversees the project accounting functions.
  • Provide training to project managers on project accounting and use of the project accounting system
  • Support branches in analyzing project performance
  • Ensure project revenue is recognized in accordance with Accounting standards
  • Work closely with the ERP team and project administrators in resolving billing and project entry issues
  • Assist project managers in project costing and billing rates setup including cross border transfer pricing
  • Reconcile project subledgers to General Ledger monthly
  • Mentor and develop junior staff
  • Other responsibilities as required.

Requirements
  • Over 5 years’ accounting experience, with at least 3 years in project accounting
  • a degree in accounting or finance
  • Qualified CPA designation or close to completion is preferred
  • Expert skills with MS Excel
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively – both written and verbal
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn new accounting software quickly (Dynamics SL and related systems)
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and function effectively without continuous direction
  • Experience in cross border transfer pricing between US & Canada is an asset
