Role Overview
McElhanney Ltd. is seeking an Accounting Clerk with experience in invoicing to join our Victoria team. Reporting to the senior Accounting Clerk, this individual will have previous exposure to accounting principles and invoicing. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who thrives in a fast-paced team atmosphere. This role will support four divisions: civil engineering, structural engineering, environmental and surveying groups.

  • Work with Project Managers to generate invoices for clients and post to the accounting system
  • Reconcile accounts and coordinate adjustments
  • Record accounts payable entries
  • Process and review staff expense statements
  • Track and review outstanding accounts receivable and produce client statements
  • Formatting of documents using MS word and creating and updating spreadsheets using MS Excel. Options to use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
  • Support other administrative duties as required – including preparation of proposals, written reports and other technical documents

  • 2 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role preferably within a consulting firm, with post-secondary training in accounting is preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting practices and principles
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), with a strong emphasis on Excel capabilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics SL is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task, and the ability to work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated workplace professionalism; ability to work well as part of a team but also work independently
