Studies blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine required paint specifications for workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
 
Prepares or helps paint staff prepare painting equipment by moving switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyor and paint spraying equipment. Selects color and type and changes barrels.
 
Prepares or helps paint staff prepare parts by washing, blowing off parts and removing rust and weld berries.
 
Spray paints parts or helps paint staff paint parts by hand using side - to side or up and down motions.
 
Maintains & troubleshoots painting equipment by disassembling and assembling equipment, cleaning components and replacing defective parts and checking final operation.
 
Operates and troubleshoots paint-mixing system and records data in log book.
 
Prepares or helps paint staff prepare parts for final inspection & used overhead crane and forklift to move parts.
 
Cleans or helps paint staff clean paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyer hooks and from spray heads and hoses. Performs regular safety checks on personal protective equipment and painting equipment.
 
Performs first-piece and in-process inspection by checking paint specifications of part per blueprint using necessary paint inspection tools and technology. Inspects parts according to C=0 chart. Completes inspection form.
 
Hangs parts and lifts off finished parts and places parts into appropriate Material-Handling distribution receptacles.
 
Troubleshoot machinery and diagnose problems.
 
Performs or helps paint staff prepare routine preventative maintenance and general repairs on machines as required. Completes maintenance log.
 
Reviews customer blueprints and models to determine estimated run times at the paint-line and manufacturability. Communicates these assessments to sales for the RFQ process.
 
Holds training sessions at management's request to help operators in first ops increase their skills and reduce issues related to bad quality.
 
Instructs new employees on Preventative Maintenance compliance.
 
Assists and/or advises maintenance technicians with paint-line repairs, as needed, to ensure that the paint-line and it's mechanical and chemical components can safely be returned to production.
 
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), two years of experience at OCI using Paint -line technology and overhead cranes are required. Must have been a proven paint-hanger, paint preparer, and/or painter in the paint division at OCI with nothing more than an active verbal warning on record.
 
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with vendors and employees of organization.
 
Math Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume.
 
Reasoning Skills
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
