Sellen has a newly established role of Director, Subcontractor Diversity and Development.  This position works strategically with project teams and local partners to develop the performance and capabilities of small, local, and diverse subcontractors.  Across Sellen’s operations, the Director of Subcontractor Diversity and Development plans and leads outreach efforts and educational programs to position Sellen and our extended network of subcontracted partners to compete for and win a diverse range of project types.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and establish Sellen’s program for building partnerships with small, minority-owned, and women-owned subcontracting businesses.
  • Assist project leadership in achieving established project goals and requirements for subcontractor and participation in the project. 
  • Identify targeted opportunities for community participation in Sellen’s work through community outreach and engagement.
  • Promote, implement, and maintain mentoring and training opportunities that prepare and support small businesses to perform work with Sellen.
The successful candidate will have expert knowledge of commercial construction management practices and a minimum of 3 years working with subcontractors and partners in delivery and performance of work on large-scale projects.  They will be excellent analytical problem solvers, good communicators, highly organized, and proven in cultivating new relationships with internal and external clients alike.  The right candidate will be well versed in subcontracting practices and will have demonstrated abilities to work effectively with owners, subcontractors, and project teams.

Position Requirements:  A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  3+ years of experience and sound knowledge of bid and buy-out practices, and a strong working knowledge of institutional goals related to subcontractor and supplier diversity.   Experience with healthcare and public institutions is a definite plus, along with strong planning and negotiation skills.
