Manufacturing Specialist

The Manufacturing Specialist Role:
The role is primarily responsible for the delivery, support, and revenue growth of OMA’s products and services.  This role will be a combination of industry specific services and those that require engineering technical services. This role will be required to work in a team environment with the RBC (Regional Business Consultant) and MEA (Manufacturing Extension Agent).


Client Delivery - 50%
Manage both client consulting and delivery/implementation of OMA products and services. While implementing OMA’s products, identify additional opportunities and communicate to the RBC or MEA

Integration with Regional Business Consultant and MEA - 20%  
Accountable to ensure a partnership is maintained between the Regional Business Consultant and the MEA resources to manage the client account because of the scope of work engagement. 

Program Development Support - 10%
Assist in the development and improvement of OMA programs.

Continuous Learning - 5%
Accountable to partner with direct manager to create and maintain a personal and professional development plan. Keep up with industry leading trends and be knowledgeable about processes and technology to be applied.

Industry Education - 5%
Represent OMA at local, regional, statewide, and national events by supporting technical demonstrations, presentations and/or workshops.

Stakeholder Relationship Management – 5% 
Accountable to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders (economic development partners, educational partners, and sponsors.

Administrative Documentation - 5%  
Ensure all reporting and client tracking is completed to ensure compliance with OMA policies and procedures.

Strong Manufacturing Experience as well as Relationship Sales/Account management including the following experience and competencies:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience assessing organizational performance and establishing continuous improvement plans
  • Experience in facilitating strategic planning and organizational performance metrics
  • Experience with Lean methods and practices (Lean Black Belt certified preferred)
  • Experience with Strategic Planning, Organizational Structuring, and People Systems (component of the lean management system)
  • Excellent communication and people skills are a must
  • Must have a strong business acumen and have the ability to learn about a company’s operations and act as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team
