Small, multi-disciplinary environmental firm in Columbia, MD is seeking an individual with 1 to 3 years of experience with performing environmental site assessments, soil sampling, and groundwater sampling.

Straughan is currently seeking an Environmental Professional to support upcoming Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and other projects concerned with hazardous materials management. Position may be full time or part time.
The qualified applicant will have a basic knowledge of soils and groundwater, experience with methods for performing soil and groundwater sampling for hazardous substances, and regulatory requirements applicable to contaminated sites.  Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both speech and writing are a must. In addition, candidates must be self-motivated and have the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, environmentally conscious, team environment.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or Engineering
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis, conduct field investigations that include soil and groundwater sampling, and document findings clearly and effectively
  • Basic knowledge of key environmental regulations and policies
  • Experience in preparing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment reports
  • Working knowledge of MS Office computer software
  • Well-developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; ability to create effective written reports and documentation 
Qualifications (Preferred)
The following qualifications are preferred: 
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training
  • Experience in Baltimore/Washington/Northern Virginia region
