The Role as Project Manager, Natural Resources
As a project manager in our Natural Resources Group you will enjoy managing small and large projects and contracts, to include environmental assessments, environmental permitting, compliance monitoring/inspection, environmental planning/NEPA, ecological mitigation, and sustainability/resiliency planning that supports the advancement of Straughan’s future capabilities and capacity. You will be a senior technical leader, overseeing/mentoring staff and providing leadership in field investigations and project/task management. You will support business opportunities and managing clients, budgets, and staff. The ideal candidate will be highly and intrinsically self-motivated. You will ensure that all relationships are your priority including all direct reports and long-term client relationships through proactive engagement identify solutions to challenges that arise. Here are some more specifics:
 
Location:  Columbia, MD/All employees are currently working remotely
Primary Responsibilities: Project Management, Leadership Skills, Technical Guidance, Quality Assurance Client Relationship Management, and Proposal Development
Key Performance Metrics: Adherence to Schedule/Scope/Budget, Repeat Client Business, Mitigation of Project Risks, Well-Developed Work Plans and Project Proposals
 
Minimum Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting environmental assessment and permitting projects (Clean Water Act Section 404/401, forest conservation, endangered species, biological monitoring).
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing small and large projects
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to manage clients, budgets, deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting proposals with the highest level of technical writing skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using standard software to prepare reports and track budgets and project progress.
 
Desirable Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience leading staff by being a resilient, creative leader who understands the importance of being a role model and leads by example, supports and develops the team both individually and as a group.  
  • Proficiency in GIS, Microstation, AutoCAD
  • Professional certification, such as PMP, AICP, PWS, CEP
  • Active involvement in professional organizations
  • Author of technical publications and speaking engagements
  • Experience in the following markets: transportation, local government, federal government, utilities
