Create marketing programs and strategies to help develop all channels throughout Canada. Plan, develop and execute projects and initiatives that increase performance and value, and support the short/long term marketing strategy.  Create engaging and relevant marketing activities that resonates with Steam Whistle's target consumer. 
  • Develop annual Brand Plans, Long Range Plans and Brand Reviews with key inputs from consumer insights, analysis of category/competitive and brand performance.
  • Analysis/Performance tracking, including: Working closely with analysts to provide detailed analysis of brand performance and competitor activity (pricing, distribution, promotion program performance, category reviews) and update monthly reports on brand activity, competitive activity and pricing and distribution.
  • Work with finance team to develop each Brand’s P&L during Brand Planning, identifying key levers to optimize profitability. Monitor monthly P&L progress and propose recommendations throughout the year.
  • Develop integrated Marketing programs for relevant Brands including various Marketing levers (Retail, On premise, Media, PR, Sponsorships etc.).
  • Ensure best in class execution that generates cut-through versus key competitor brands
  • Manage pricing strategy implementation on key brands across the Provinces
  • Responsible for translating retail and consumer insights into actionable plans to improve performance.
  • Keep a pulse on market trends, consumer markets, and competitors to recognize challenges and opportunities
  • Reinforce the brand’s promise at each point of customer contact, ensure brand appearance through all channels is well maintained and relevant
  • Work collaboratively with operations to identify, source and develop productivity initiatives; initiate and coordinate activities with trade marketing 
  • Develop brand plans, monitor progress against plan
  • Develop pricing and pack strategy with view to improve marketing mix, trade spending plan, and distribution goals
  • Analyze current performance, consumer trends, market conditions, and other contributing factors to help in recommending brand goals; understanding what motivates our customers and why they choose our brand over our competitors’ brands
  • Conduct periodical reviews of the brand, competitive, category, customer and consumer trends to enhance the brand’s equity and marketplace performance
  • Work with marketing and sales to identify programming to generate incremental sales and/or profitability in all markets and channels
  • Participate in brand strategy discussions and overall development year-round
  • Manage the status of creative projects, liaising with the project lead and creative team
  • Lead Steam Whistle’s trade marketing activities, increasing presence and demand in all channels 
  • To fully understand and comply with the legal and regulatory regulations of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission

Experience and Qualifications:     
  • CPG industry experience preferred
  • MBA an asset
  • Strong trade marketing and channel management background
  • Business/marketing related degree or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience as brand manager preferable within beer industry
  • Strategic thinker – able to analyze data and present in comprehensive format
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence, and collaborate
  • Superb customer services skills
  • Ability to operate on various IT platforms and programs; PowerPoint, Excel, social media etc.
  • 5+ years marketing experience
  • Fluency in French is an asset
