Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, expertise and guidance to the Accounts Payable/Carrier Payable team to enable them to provide timely and accurate financial services and responses to queries
  • Oversee the Vendor Management processes, review new Vendor profiles and change requests
  • Recommend and undertake continuous system and process improvements to ensure quality service delivery to key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Controller to set performance targets, teamwork plans, and mitigate identified risk areas
  • Keeping the AP aging current – timely follow-up and resolution
  • Participate with day-to-day AP transactions which will include: approving carrier invoices for payment, dispute resolution, and processing vendor payments
  • Verify and obtain authorization for any discrepancies in prices, quantity received and freight charges
  • Provide oversight of payment runs including manual and urgent payments
  • Responsible for managing incoming mail and emails from carriers: invoices, inquiries, requests, statements, etc.
  • Responsible for management of AP phone calls (internal and external)
  • Provide support for external audits
  • Participate in new projects

Qualifications and Skills:
Education

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred

The ideal candidate for this position will possess:

  • 2+ years of high volume experience as an accounts payable team lead or supervisor
  • Preference for experience with multi-company applications
  • Must have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoy a team-work environment
  • Truckmate/TMW experience will be an asset. Spanish also an asset
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while maintaining a fast, steady work pace
  • Effective planning and organization
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Confidentiality and good judgement
  • Honest and trustworthy, respectful and accountable
