  • 3 – 5 years’ experience as Inventory, Cost Accountant and/or Financial Analyst in a manufacturing setting.
  • An understanding of GAAP in relation to inventory and product costing
  • An understanding of inventory movements through ERP and through the general ledger
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, in particular MS Excel
  • Experience with an ERP system in a Manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience with an ERP (Sage experience preferred)
  • Significant exposure to various levels of inventory analysis and manufacturing variance reporting
  • Sound understanding of bills of material, routings and standard cost elements
  • Sound analytical skills, judgment and decision making
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work with others
  • Adaptable to change and willingness to learn and handle new or evolving assignments
  • Results oriented with an ability to work independently towards deadlines

Job Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in establishing BOM costing for new/existing products based on supplier agreements, and purchasing contracts/commitments
  • Review BOM costs and product cost standards quarterly and investigate any significant variances between BOM and cost standards
  • Monitor inventory transactions, work with Operations to eliminate recurring errors
  • Analyze the results of the cycle count programs, work with Operations to recommend corrective action
  • Prepare the monthly inventory valuation schedule and reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger
  • Verify accuracy of inventory value at standard cost (Items Costs, Bills of Materials (BOM), Routings)
  • Assist in the improvement of internal controls related to inventory and COGS
  • Assist in the annual audits, both internal and external as required
  • Become the subject matter expert on costing, inventory and operations finance
  • Facilitate daily production job closure meeting and lead the process of investigating variances with key team members (inventory management, production operations, labor, etc) prior to job closure
  • Report weekly job closure issues to identify trends in production job processing and recommend corrective action
  • Play a key role in the CER (Capital Expenditure Request) process and evaluate/monitor productivity initiatives related to company capital expenditures.
  • Prepare monthly COGS and gross margin analysis – investigate significant cost variances
  • Perform current cost roll-up and standard cost updates throughout the year and annually
  • Manage the weekly operations reporting, which includes preparing the files, identifying manufacturing variances and helping stakeholders to understand their data.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances from standard cost and report on the impact of those variances (both projected and historical)
  • Create operations performance reports from raw data collected for each manufacturing area.  Work with operations management to identify trends and improvement actions
  • Special projects as required, all other duties as assigned
