Reporting to the Commercial department, you have experience overseeing and coordinating ongoing project costs with Project Managers and other personnel to ensure all financial aspects of project execution are on track and budget. The position is responsible for analyzing management financial statements, reconciliations and ensuring corporate governance and procedures are followed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Effectively communicating with Project and Commercial Managers regarding contract conditions, change orders, billing schedules, and any additional services-related to billing.
- Oversee and assist with performing month-end activities which include but are not limited to, revenue and cost recognition, accruals, and account reconciliation.
- Review and audit of payroll time and time entry, equipment utilization and subcontractor invoices.
- Provide monthly Work-In-Progress analysis (WIP).
- Support equipment and fixed asset administration.
- Management and preparation of bi-monthly accounts receivable invoices and collection.
- Researching unbilled/unrecovered costs and reporting to management.
- Management and preparation of weekly invoice suspense listing.
- Produce monthly/quarterly reports for management and update schedules and statements.
- Ensure adherence to financial governance and controls, with an emphasis on proactively seeking continuous process improvements and gaining efficiencies through automation.
- Understanding and interpreting contracts and purchase orders.
- Assist Project Managers and other assigned project staff with contract reporting requirements in support of client requests.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or related field is required.
- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation or near completion.
- 4-6 years’ experience as an Accountant or similar position, preferably in the construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Experience with revenue recognition policies related to contract and performance milestones.
- Exceptional Excel abilities.
- Experience with the MS Power Platform (build and manipulate) is considered an asset.
- Able to organize and prioritize demands, handle complex tasks, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong desire to learn and ability to build relationships across the organization and at various levels.
- Analytical, self-motivated problem solver with ability to “think outside the box”.
- Self-motivated, results driven and strong work ethic.
- Proven ability to take initiative, work with ambiguity and has the courage to innovate.
- Understanding of the pipeline construction industry is considered an asset.
