Job Title: Assistant to the Theater Tech Director
Location: Winsor School Theater Department, Boston, MA
Position Type: Part-Time during the 2025-2026 School Year (Starting in September)
Hours: 19 Hours per week, non-exempt, flexible schedule.
The Winsor School, an independent girls' school is seeking a passionate and skilled Technical Theatre Assistant to join our thriving theater program. This role will work closely with the Director and Technical Director while mentoring and guiding our students in various technical aspects of theater production.
Supervisors: Technical Theater Director, Theater Director, and Head of Performing Arts
Responsibilities:

Coordinate with the Technical Director regarding the specific needs for each event.

Assist with hands-on technical responsibilities including lighting, sound, set design and construction.

Oversee and participate in set construction, including carpentry, rigging, and scenic assembly

Apply and supervise painting techniques for scenery, including base coating, texturing, and detail work

Oversee students as they work on building, painting, lighting, and sound crews.

Attend production meetings when possible.

Enforce safe-use guidelines for equipment and all aspects of theater activities.

Work collaboratively with the Performing Arts Department.

Follow Winsor’s guidelines on Adult/Student behavior policies and other policies as instructed by Winsor.

Be able to lift, push or pull heavy objects using appropriate tools and body alignment.

Wear protective clothing and shoes.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in theater tech or the equivalent

Minimum of two years of experience working middle and high school students

Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues and students
