ROLE
WHC Energy Services – A Surerus Murphy Company (WHC), is seeking an on-site Field Project Controls Analyst to join our team. This field-based role requires a proactive individual to track, report, and manage project data to ensure accurate and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will work directly in the field, collaborating closely with superintendents, field engineers, and project managers, performing daily progress verification, and providing comprehensive data analysis to support project decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Field Progress Tracking & Verification
  • Perform daily site walk-downs to verify that reported progress aligns with completed work.
  • Update field progress quantities from various sources and compare against schedules.
  • Ensure crew productivity tracking and equipment utilization reporting are accurate.
  • Identify any deviations or delays and escalate issues as needed.
2. Timesheet & Cost Code Management
  • Review and validate timesheets for accurate cost code allocations.
  • Coordinate corrections with the Superintendent and Office Manager.
  • Ensure alignment between labor hours, equipment usage, and reported progress.
3. Data Review, Reporting & Analytics
  • Input timesheet hours and field data into the progress tracking system.
  • Generate and distribute daily production reports with key performance metrics.
  • Analyze unit rates, cost metrics, and productivity trends to identify efficiencies or concerns.
  • Support weekly cost and progress reviews, ensuring alignment with forecasts and budgets.
4. Change Management & Out-of-Scope Work
  • Identify and track out-of-scope work, ensuring it is adequately documented for Change Order approval.
  • Maintain an updated Project Change Log, working closely with the Project Manager.
  • Assist in delay impact analysis and provide recommendations for mitigation.
5. Equipment, Materials, & Subcontractor Coordination
  • Assist in material take-offs and ensure proper equipment allocation.
  • Track equipment usage and validate subcontractor productivity.
  • Support subcontract and material reconciliation, ensuring accurate cost tracking.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support project objectives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent field experience).
  • Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP) is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in field project controls, scheduling, or construction management.
  • Some Proficiency in project scheduling & cost tracking software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, preferred).
  • Experience with large-scale construction.
  • Prior experience in pipeline, civil, facilities, or solar projects is a plus.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, cost tracking, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Ability to interpret alignment sheets, construction drawings, and progress maps.
  • Understanding of cost control, budgeting, and forecasting methods.
  • Must be comfortable working in remote job site conditions with field crews.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This field-based position requires work at remote project locations with travel and temporary accommodation as needed. The role follows a 6-day on, 1-day off schedule, with 10-hour shifts throughout the project's duration. The position requires daily on-site verification, working closely with field crews, superintendents, and project managers to ensure accurate tracking of progress and costs. Candidates must be comfortable working in varied weather conditions, rugged terrain, and active construction environments while adhering to strict safety and compliance protocols.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Field Project Controls Analyst reports to the Sector Project Controls Manager.
