POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) is seeking skilled, customer service-oriented candidates to fill part-time, year-round Custodian openings in our Facility Services Department. This position’s core duties are related to general cleaning and disinfecting of buildings found on WSFP’s grounds.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
This position is an unclassified, Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system, working an average of 20 hours per week throughout the calendar year. Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.

COMPENSATION
The starting hourly rate for this role is $14.00 per hour.

Candidate must be able to work all 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair; for 2024 these dates are August 1 – 11, 2024. Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check, if over the age of 18.
This position may be exposed to (sometimes harsh) cleaning products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Indoor cleaning including, but not limited to: sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, cleaning sinks, cleaning mirrors, and pulling/replacing garbage bags.
- Limited outdoor cleaning primarily including removal of cigarette butts, loose trash and refuse from outdoor trash cans.
- Shovel and apply de-icing chemicals to sidewalks and stairs.
- Restock restroom dispensers with soap, paper towels and toilet paper.
- Maintain stock of cleaning supplies, garbage bags, hand soap and paper products.
- May be responsible for disinfecting and cleaning showers at our onsite RV Park.
- May act as the liaison between one’s supervisor and fellow staff for the show day and off day maintenance of restrooms, exposition hall floor, dock area and adjacent outside areas.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- General cleaning experience, preferred
- Baseline knowledge and understanding of standard cleaning products, preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to stay standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
