Cassandra Database Administrator

The successful candidate will be working directly with project teams to maintain, support and continuously improve NoSQL (Cassandra/CouchBase) databases.

Responsibilities:
  • Overall Cassandra/CouchBase administration.
  • Manage the full operational lifecycle of NoSQL databases including sizing, deployment, monitoring & ongoing tuning and maintenance (e.g. adding and replacing nodes, rebalancing, upgrading to newer version, etc.).
  • Work closely with developers to provide help and recommendation on Cassandra/CouchBase configuration, design documents and views.
  • Implement Cassandra/CouchBase patches.
  • Implement Disaster Recovery and backup strategies.
  • Setup multi-datacenters for NoSQL databases.

 Required Skills:
  • Expertise in Cassandra and CouchBase installation, setup, tuning, monitoring and administration.
  • Expertise in multi-datacenters setups and high availability solutions.
  • Experience in Disaster Recovery setup for NoSQL databases.
  • Experience in Cassandra/CouchBase Data modelling.
  • Understanding of JSON document modeling.
  • Experience in shell scripting.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment.
  • Great problem solving skills are a must.
  • Experience and comfortable working in a 24x7 uptime environment.

 Additional Pluses:
  • Experience deploying and managing NoSQL databases in the cloud.
  • Experience in Solr, Zookeeper or Lucene administration.
  • Fluent in shell script development.
  • Experience working in a java development environment.
  • Experience working in a SaaS environment.
  • Understanding of RDBMS such as Oracle.
