Position Summary: 
The Transportation Assistant plays an integral role in maintaining an efficient and productive transportation department.  The Transportation Assistant performs a variety of clerical and interpersonal duties of a routine and recurring nature. 

Reports To:  Student Transportation Coordinator

  • Must be able to work well with others, as part of a team.
  • Must be reliable, motivated, and demonstrate a positive professional attitude and appearance consistent with professional image.
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and carry out assignments to completion with minimum instructions, adhere to prescribed routines and practice, maintain records, and make reports requiring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines on a weekly basis and on special projects as assigned.
  • Must have knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, including computer proficiency.
  • Must have sympathetic attitude toward children and the disabled.
  • Must maintain open/direct communication with immediate supervisor

Essential Functions:
  • Answers the phone
  • Schedules transportation requests
  • Completes data entry
  • Completes double-checks
  • Assists with researching billing questions
  • Assists with researching payroll questions
  • Contacts drivers as needed
  • Assists  dispatch and routing
  • Functions as a driver/aide on a back-up basis
  • Maintains a positive relationship with the School Districts, Students, Parents, and Drivers
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

This position will be part time variable, hours up to 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday.  The pay rate for this position is $14 per hour.
