Role Summary
The Co-Lead Massage Therapist provides massage, and/or body treatments to guests and acts as a liaison between service providers and the spa management team. The Co-Lead Massage Therapist models exceptional guest service for the service provider team and assists and supports the providers with their daily tasks, monitors opening and closing procedures, and ensures compliance with daily procedures, treatment protocols and Spa Solage standards. The lead service provider supervises the Shift Captain team. The lead service provider trains and orients all new service providers to the Solage Spa culture. The lead service provider coordinates education and training, takes monthly inventory and creates seasonal specials.

Core Responsibilities
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of everything that needs to be done!  Within the Auberge family, our people always find new ways to look after the business, their guests, and their team-mates.   Within this, the key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Provide all 80% of all treatments in their skilled field, be it massage, and/or body treatments as outlined in Solage Calistoga treatment protocol manual.

  • Orient, schedule, train and sign off all new service providers to ensure they are fully prepared for executing each treatment on our spa menu. Prepare associate notebooks for each new hire.

  • Monitor all treatment rooms to ensure they are well stocked and organized, report needs to Lead Massage Therapist.

  • Take monthly inventory count of all treatment and prep room supplies. Maintain ample inventory of professional products utilized in spa treatments and work with the Spa Manager to order products.

  • Oversee cleanliness of the treatment prep room and provide feedback to service providers as needed.

  • Review protocols quarterly, update as needed, and develop and implement new spa treatment protocols.

  • Work with the Spa Management to create an annual calendar of compelling seasonal specials and exciting new treatments for our spa menu.

  • Assist Spa Management with ensuring all service providers start and end treatments on time and that they are following protocols and delivering consistent treatments to all guests.

  • Assist Spa Management in creating a calendar of training to enhance service provider’s skills, provide motivation and heighten team spirit.

  • Follow up promptly with Spa Management on all comments, concerns and suggestions made by Solage guests, members and associates.

  • Practice and follow all State Board policies and procedures, including all sanitation and hygiene standards. Maintain a clean, tidy and professional treatment and prep room. Retrieve, prepare and restock linens and supplies for the work area; communicate with management regarding supplies or repairs needed; leave the treatment room in perfect condition including replacing linens on tables in accordance with Spa’s visual standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Certificate of completion from a State or Nationally certified school of massage indicating 500 hours of training in massage therapy and/or hold a certification of completion from the California State Board of Cosmetology License specializing in Esthetics.

  • Ability to provide 80% of Solage Calistoga spa treatments as outlined in the protocol manual.

  • Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the body, understanding of the theory, contraindications and benefits of massage therapy.

  • 2-4 years experience in the spa industry is strongly desired, luxury hotel experience preferred.

  • Experience creating new and compelling treatments and specials that focus on the use of natural ingredients.

  • Experience training associates on procedures and protocols.

  • Ability to work in an environment infused with a variety of scents, such as aromatherapy candles.
