About Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection

Located in the heart of town, the 97-room Hotel Jerome, Auberge Resorts Collection, continues to retain its identity as one of the great hotels of the American West. This year, Aspen’s legendary crown jewel, unveiled new social spaces including a renovated Aspen Times newspaper building, residential-style suites facing Ajax Mountain and a sultry underground bar – Bad Harriet. As Director of Catering & Conference Services, you are responsible for directing and administering all Catering and Banquet events and must demonstrate a  continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service, unique events and financial profitability. 

The primary objective of this position is to direct the Events department to include planning, budgeting, forecasting, soliciting new business, maintaining current clients and promoting banquet and catering business for the Jerome. Revenue maximization and the ability to control expenses through effective negotiation of services and accurate forecasting is required. The Director is ultimately responsible for achieving his/her budgeted sales plan. 

The Director develops relationships with guests, individuals, and corporations who book events so as to maintain a catalog of repeat business as well as  prospecting new business. This position works closely with the entire management team to communicate and prepare for upcoming events.

Essential Job Functions

  • Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support team members

  • Plan and conduct pre- and post-convention meetings with clients and respective departments.

  • Establish rapport with and entertain meeting planners while promoting hotel facilities and services.

  • Conduct site inspections.  

  • Monitor in-house group activity, providing assistance as needed.

  • Communicate with sales, front office and reservations in order to coordinate and monitor guest room blocks and special reservation needs.

  • Assign event space set up based on clients needs.

  • Assist sales staff in promoting the property, develop leads, and securing re-bookings.

  • Coordinate activities with various departments to service accounts.

  • Track group and event activity. 

  • Access and input data into the computer system.

  • Generate account history reports.

  • Analyze banquet event orders to ensure that all room set-ups, equipment, supplies, staffing and menus meet/exceed guest expectations.

  • Recommend, implement, monitor and control the events budget.

  • Maximize revenue and minimize expenses while maintaining the highest quality.

  • Develop and implement unique programming  in conjunction with Sales and F&B.

  • Prepare pace reports, monthly forecast, and annual budget.

  • Monitor and control the maintenance of the meeting spaces and equipment to protect hotel assets and ensure a safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties as requested by management.

Qualification Standards 

A minimum of 3-5 years previous conference services experience, proficient in events/hotel computer software. Strong supervisory experience, and ability to train. Monitor the process of event management, create forecasts, pace reports, and budgets. Excellent guest relations, communication and presentation. Organization skills of utmost importance. 

Work Environment and Context

Work schedule varies and will include working on holidays and weekends.  Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.

Pay Rate $90000 - $110000
