SUMMARY

Take non-alcoholic and coffee beverage orders from service staff, make/complete orders and serve to guests at tables when time permits and according to hotel specifications, courteously and efficiently. Polish glassware, restock service area and support service team. Complete requisition forms and submit to purchasing. Work directly with dish team to maintain the appropriate pars of glassware and dishes. Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of the restaurant area and equipment.  Provide quality service.

Pay Rate: $9.30 + tips

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up of the restaurant/bar.

  2. Maintain complete knowledge of all tea, coffee and  non-alcoholic selections, correct glassware and garnishes in the restaurant.

  3. Maintain complete knowledge of applicable menu items, prices, preparation method/time, ingredients and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and method of presentation.

  4. Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.

  5. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.  Use equipment only as intended.

  6. Provide quality beverage service consistently to all guests

  7. Maintain a complete knowledge of all beverage product and recipes (coffees, teas, hot chocolate drinks, NA beverages and beer/wine/liquor offerings) as well as appropriate accompaniments

  8. Maintain knowledge of the particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.

  9. Maintain complete knowledge of POS system and manual systems.

  10. Maintain complete and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.

  11. Complete all opening and closing side duties as assigned.

  12. Organize assigned station and ensure readiness prior to guest arrival.

  13. Review daily specials and maintain awareness of 86’d items throughout the shift.

  14. Take guests’ food and beverage order, utilizing suggestive techniques.

  15. Record order of guest following department service procedures

  16. Input order into POS system and ensure transmission of food order and that order is verified by the kitchen.

  17. Legibly document orders when POS system is down and distribute food orders to kitchen.

  18. Retrieve and/or serve all alcoholic beverages from the bar and serve to guests.

  19. Open and serve wine/champagne bottles in accordance with departmental standards.

  20. Make all varieties of coffee in accordance with the departmental standards.

  21. Serve all food courses and beverage items.

  22. Understand and anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.

  23. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

  24. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.

  25. Handle guest complaints following procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.

  26. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service area.

  27. Guide the activities of the assigned assistant server, busperson and food runner to ensure optimum service to the guest.

  28. Set appropriate miss en place for each course prior to the arrival of the food ordered.

  29. Clear each course.

  30. Remove soiled wares from tables as assigned and transport to dishwashing area.

  31. Promptly crumb tables after main course is removed.

  32. Total all charges and present guest checks; process payment through the POS system.

  33. Clean and reset tables immediately after guest departs.

  34. Complete closing duties as assigned.

  35. Complete all closing reports as assigned and leave duty after reporting to supervisor.


SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

 
  1. Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule.

  2. Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager.

  3. Attend all resort staff meetings as scheduled.

 

Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable

  1. High school graduate or equivalent and some college.

  2. Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service.

  3. Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish.

  4. Any previous culinary training.

  5. Certification in alcohol awareness program

  6. Certification in CPR.

  7. Computer training on POS system, preferably Springer Miller.

  8. Prior training in guest relations.

  1. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers.

  2. Ability to anticipate and understand guest service needs.

  3. Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to guests within any given period of time.

  5. Ability to suggestively sell restaurant menu items, beverages and wines.

  6. Ability to access and input information into POS system.

  7. Ability to maintain good coordination and timing while serving orders quickly.

  8. Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

  9. Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

 
  1. Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.  

  2. Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity. 

  3. Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.

  4. Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.

  5. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.

  6. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to the general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
