The Marketing Manager is the steward of the Sierra Designs brand, and is responsible for the overall execution of the brand strategy as well as the consistency of brand representation across all media and product to include websites, E-Commerce, social, digital marketing, advertising, events/outreach/trade shows, public relations, promotions, guerrilla marketing, cause marketing, partnerships, retail packaging and displays, sales materials and catalogs.  The position will work closely with the product and sales teams, assisting in strategic planning, market/brand positioning, consumer trends, new product categories, and the best utilization of the marketing mix for our products and consumers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing:
  • Develop annual Marketing Plan + ongoing strategies
  • Create and maintain yearly Marketing Calendar
  • Manage consistent brand image of the company across all external touch points
  • Plan and execute Social Media strategy around web and product promotion, and consumer communication
  • Work with a combination of internal resources and external agencies/contractors to execute plans
  • Conduct trend research and tracking of competitors, industry trends, etc.
  • Develop, work with and support key retail and marketing relationships within the business.

Creative Services:
  • Responsible for the execution of all printed and digital assets for the business.
  • Manage all creative projects from concept through production.
  • Generate sales materials and catalogs, as needed for yearly Sales Meetings and customer presentations.

Management/Fiscal Responsibility:
  • Manage outside contractors (ad agency, P.R. agency, etc.)
  • Create and manage marketing budget
  • Manage and solicit additional resources and outside vendors when needed
  • Coordinate all trade show planning and be accountable for related budgets

Outreach
  • Responsible for identification, coordination, negotiation, and execution of the sponsorship and events according to the guidance of brand strategies
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with representatives of community, consumer, and public interest groups
  • Coordinate/participate in promotional activities and trade shows. Prepares and arranges displays and makes presentations. Select products and accessories to be displayed at trade shows or seeded.
  • Arrange public appearances, presentations, contests, or exhibits for clients to increase product and service awareness and to promote goodwill

Internet/Web/E-commerce (with web team)
  • Search engine optimization
  • Maintain Web sites, messaging and content
  • Digital Marketing
  • Strategy and implementation of social media activities

Advertising/Public Relations
  • Develop public relations strategies that will influence public opinion or promote ideas, and products
  • Manage public relations resources to drive results

Research/Analysis
  • Devise and implement methods and procedures for collecting data, such as surveys, opinion polls, or questionnaires, along with existing data.
  • Conduct market research to help optimize new products, positioning, designs

Other
  • Consult with product development on product specifications such as design, color, and packaging
  • Create implementation timelines and key deliverables with outside service groups such as public relations, web development, advertising and graphic design
  • Confer with other managers to identify trends and key group interests and concerns or to provide advice on business decisions

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field of study with a minimum of 6 years related experience or equivalent.  Master’s degree is a plus
  • Experience and knowledge include: working closely with senior management, a broad range of marketing experience, ability to evaluate markets, competitors and opportunities, in depth knowledge of marketing elements
  • Outsized creative judgment and strategic sense  
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to multitask
  • Online and social media experience desired
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, drive, confidence, risk taking, influence, persuade
  • Skills include: initiative, creativity, and excellent selling and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated drive and confidence.  Ability and desire to work for team-driven organization in a diverse environment.
  • Works well under pressure and manages multiple deadlines. 
  • Must be team, customer and brand focused/responsive in all ways.
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

SKILLS

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills. 

Mathematical/Analysis Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.   Advanced ability to analyze numbers, identifying rends using quantitative analysis in Microsoft office environment.  Experience may be in a wide variety of areas.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Strong conceptual, analytical thinker and creative problem-solver.
