This position is responsible for monitoring, review and documentation of all accounting transactions for preparation of reporting financial results, cash management, financing compliance and reporting and supervision of accounts receivable and accounts payable departments.  Assists management in evaluation of projects and the impact in the accounting function, internal controls and operating systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Reviews and approves the financial statements, month-end, and year-end closing processes in a timely manner.
  • Reviews and approves company financial statements for completeness and accuracy in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintains, monitors, and develops internal control policies and procedures in accordance with COSO guidelines
  • Manages the financial statement audit process, external state and local tax audits, and 401k audit.
  • Manages the month end review and account reconciliation process.
  • Liaison with software development team regarding reporting and other system requirements.
  • Verifies the integrity of systems and processes in place.
  • Prepares required regulatory reporting and internal reports.
  • Ensures compliance with all month end bank reporting requirements. 
  • Manages tax reporting and compliance.
  • Reviews  inventory standard cost updates
  • Maintains good communication channels within the company and outside customers.  
  • Directly supervises employees and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies. 
  • Management of one or more of the following areas: Financial Reporting, Budgets, Insurance Data, and Banking.
  • Supervises annual budgeting process, including evaluation of cost centers within the accounting system
  • Oversees monthly brand and cost center financial reporting packages, including evaluation of budget overages.
  • Oversee 401k activities and DOL compliance 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • BS or BA degree in Accounting, Finance or related Business focus, CPA/Master’s degree a plus
  • Seven plus years of Accounting/Finance Management experience in a corporate environment
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Excel, ERP system data (Dynamics BC 14 a plus)
  • Able to efficiently use financial data mining tools 
  • Knowledge of the standard cost and manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Credit/Collections, Financial Reporting, Budgets, Accounts Receivable, Insurance Management, and Banking.
  • Experience in a consumer products industry.
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills – ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Initiative – ability to work and achieve objectives independently
  • Able to manage multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines
  • Strong Problem Solving and Process Improvement Skills

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises annual budgeting process, including evaluation of cost centers within the accounting system
  • Oversees monthly brand and cost center financial reporting packages, including evaluation of budget overages.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accounting, Financial Reporting & Budgets, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Managers, and payroll manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Accounting area is a collaborative, open space work environment located on the first floor of the 40,000 sq. foot facility located in Broomfield, Colorado. This Controller has their own office and desk space that is within the Accounting area.  There are approximately 85 employees in the 40,000 sq. ft Broomfield corporate facility which houses a workout facility, multiple quiet telephone booths and a large employee breakroom for the employee’s use.
