Summary Description
We are searching for an experienced Director of Catering & Event Management with a successful background leading high performing teams in a luxury environment.  The ideal candidate will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit who is innovative, results driven and with a desire to exceed customer expectations.  The ideal candidate will have exceptional business acumen with attention to detail, forecast accuracy and budget preparation. This person will be focused on revenue generation with differentiating strategies.   A leader and active member of the team, handling high profile catering and events and willing to roll-up their sleeves to make things happen. The role will lead all Catering & Event Management functions at Mauna Lani, including leading all staff within the Catering and Event Management departments.  Reports directly into the Senior Director, Sales & Marketing.  Previous resort opening experience desired.

Qualifications Required

  • Education:  College education preferred.
  • Experience: 5 years experience as a Director of Catering and Event Management in a full service resort or hotel, with experience handling incentive, weddings and the social market.
  • Previous pre opening resort experience in the Director of Catering role.
  • Skills and Abilities:  excellent reading, writing & oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with a track record of successful client interactions.
  • Forecasting, budgeting and financial acumen.
  • Coaching and people development skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and understand financial data.
  • Strong computer skills ( Google Suite: Drive,  Docs/Sheets, Slides, Hangout, Linkedin, Salesforce).
  • Excellent spoken and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, weekends, and evenings.
  • Able to negotiate, organize, delegate & work under pressure.
  • Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment, internet, telecommunication technology – helpful.
  • Knowledge of Delphi Sales and Catering Software, Social Tables, Amaze.
  • Computer literacy to include MS Word, Excel, and ability to use e-mail and the Internet.
  • High level of creativity with food and beverage menu proposals.
  • Ability to present clear, concise and meaningful information to owners, guests, executives, managers and employees.
