JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Accounting Specialist, you will use your skills in account management, organization, and communications to track expenses, ensure payments are up to date, and prepare month-end accruals. The Accounting Specialist will have a day-to-day and ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Prepare and post month-end/year-end payroll, AR, and other accruals.
· Prepare Invoices.
· Communicate with clients about billing discrepancies and questions.
· Perform journal entries for adjustments to the general ledger.
· Prepare account reconciliations and analysis to confirm posting to correct accounts.
· Review documentation for completeness and compliance with financial policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.
· Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
· Interact with vendors and various departments.
· Assists with other general accounting and finance tasks as needed.
KEY COMPETENCIES
· High attention to detail, a strong sense of urgency, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Self-starter with the ability to take the initiative and produce strategic solutions.
· Must be highly organized and motivated and possess strong verbal, written, and computer skills, including a high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
· The ability to prioritize, maintain flexibility, and complete multiple tasks promptly in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
· Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, in accounting or related field.
· 2+ years’ experience.
· Sound knowledge of Financial Accounting, Accounts payable Postings, error clearing, and accruals/month-end closing.
· Experience with Paychex and/or QuickBooks is an asset.
· Strong Excel skills.
