Essential duties and responsibilities
Strategic thinking
  • Clearly understands client objectives and strategic imperatives
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of therapeutic/clinical information of the brand
  • Interprets and ensures compliance with FDA guidelines, PhRMA, OIG, and ACCME guidelines as applicable
  • Assists client marketing team in the development of annual business plans and budgets
  • Maintains a robust knowledge of category and competitive environment that impacts client business
  • Supervises development of in depth competitive analysis when appropriate
  • Works with Managing Director to ensure client projects are on strategy and integrated with the client’s overall business plans
  • Addresses emerging trends as needed to maintain client business/brand differentiation
  • Proactively provides clients with marketing insights and problem solving
  • Assists in identifying market research opportunities to support strategy and business decision making

Creative oversight
  • Enhances daily account and creative team(s) collaboration
  • Advocates and supports Beacon’s creative concepts to the client
  • Provides clear communication to client to ensure understanding of creative efforts
  • Develops and ensures that creative concepts support strategy
  • Ensures that agency creative teams are provided with sufficient and timely client information to achieve the highest standards of creativity while remaining within approved claims, regulations and client standards
  • Collaborates on the development of the overall creative strategy (brief)
  • Ensures that account team can provide constructive creative feedback to agency art and copy departments

Best practices
  • Identifies quality control protocols of client materials and ensures highest quality control compliance
  • Plays a key role ensuring that all client deliverables consistently meet or surpass client expectation
  • Attends industry events periodically representing and promoting Beacon positively within the industry
  • Challenges client and account team thinking and process to instill passion and maximize success
  • Manages existing resources and identifies additional account team resources to optimize the infusion of the best thinking and project implementation.
  • Ensures that ongoing account team efforts are in the best interest of the Agency as well as the client
  • Capitalizes on the latest communication and promotional marketing techniques to create the most productive client marketing mix and return on investment

Leadership/organization management
  • Develops strategic and tactical plans. Ensures account team is successfully executing.
  • Provides project direction, timing, and budgets to internal team
  • Facilitates job opening meetings and development of project briefs
  • Communicates the client’s needs and provides appropriate direction to internal team
  • Ensures consistency of ongoing weekly status meetings and follows up with client
  • Proposes and initiates any process changes to enhance internal efficiencies
  • Knows when to manage problems independently (while keeping the Managing Director informed on all activities)
  • Works with Account team and Agency departments to ensure efficient and timely work flow that balances creative quality, resources, budget parameters, and client needs (urgent projects/timeframes)
  • Stays informed on status of projects prioritizing for the team when needed
  • Attends and actively participates in all required meetings, modeling professional behavior for others to emulate
  • Participate in the development of annual plans and tactics as appropriate
  • Ensure OPDP, Zinc, and all client Medical/Legal/Regulatory submission processes are correct

Talent Management
  • Supervises the account team and individual members
  • Identifies and proposes development plans for account team members
  • Resolves personnel/department plans and concerns for account team members, collaborating with HR
  • Provides appropriate staffing recommendations tied to enhancing account service support and profitability and participates in the hiring process
  • Works closely with Managing Director and Agency department heads to identify resource needs in advance to meet deadlines and balance the needs of multiple clients

Client relations
  • Effectively represents Agency POV to client
  • Provides proactive written communication/recommendations to clients on a regular basis
  • Develops/maintains strong interpersonal relationships with the client at appropriate levels
  • Ensures client deliverables are on target and meet deadlines
  • Ensures client issues, creative comments are properly interpreted
  • Identifies and resolves client conflicts quickly and efficiently

Financial responsibilities
  • Provides accurate and realistic client/financial forecasts for agency
  • Ensures accurate, timely client billing
  • Monitors financial performance of accounts to maximize income generation
  • Understands client forecast/budget issues
  • Assists with client/vendor contract negotiations
  • Reviews contracts/billing structure to update or revise as needed
  • Recommends procedures for enhanced budget management and oversight

Business development
  • Grows account organically and identifies new opportunities, when appropriate
  • Networks with client team to identify incremental business opportunities
  • Directly participates (as appropriate) in new business presentations with senior management

Computer equipment/software

Education and experience
  • 4-year college degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience in an ad agency required
  • Healthcare industry related experience a plus
  • Master’s a plus
  • 2+ years direct supervisory experience required
