SUMMARY

 The Host is the first and last point of contact for all Dune restaurant guests both via phone and while dining or drinking at the restaurant. In essence, you are the opening act and memorable close for each guest’s soulful journey at Dune. Primary responsibilities include warmly greeting, seating and bidding fond farewells while assuring each guest’s known preferences are acknowledged and assure a memorable story. Hosts also assure smooth, simple seating and table turns, managing wait lists and special requests. Communications on the phone and in person are clear, friendly  and empathetic. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
  1. Greet guests, answer phones, take and maintain reservations and wait lists as well as special requests
  2. Seat guests according to standard, calculate table turns and communicate wait times effectively
  3. Passionate desire to connect with guests and live the Dune brand
  4. Strong written and oral English communication skills
  5. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperation, and work with a minimum of supervision
  6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  7. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy
  8. Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once
  9. Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly while providing service to many guests at any given time
  10. Two years of experience in customer service, preferably food and beverage
  11. Punctuality; regular and reliable attendance
  12. Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public
  13. Ability to comfortably learn and communicate all menu items




QUALIFICATIONS
Required
 
  1. Two (2) years’ experience as a host
  2. Basic computer skills, general knowledge of POS systems


SKILLS
Required
  1. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision
  2. Basic knowledge of Dune's menus, ingredients and cooking techniques
  3. Strong written and verbal communication. Friendly and outgoing presence
  4. Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly while providing service to many guests at any given time
  5. Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculation
  6. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  7. Work well under pressure and able to handle multiple tasks at once
  8. Work well with co-workers and the public. A direct team relationship with servers, runners, bussers and bartenders is essential

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Required
  1. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes experiencing extreme fluctuations in temperature
  2. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending and stooping.
  3. Ability to stand and/or walk continuously throughout the shift to perform essential job functions
  4. Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to grasp, load, and carry tools
  5. Ability to endure repetitive motions for extended periods of time
  6. Ability to maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly
  7. Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 50 lbs; and, lift and/or carry or otherwise move received packages, bottles and boxes
