Job Description:
We are seeking a Director of Acute Care Services to lead clinical operations for ICU/PCU, Medical/Surgical, and Rehab Nursing Units. Reporting directly to the Chief Nursing Officer, this role is vital to driving patient care quality, team leadership, and financial sustainability. The Director will oversee staff development, strategic initiatives, and compliance with safety and quality standards while managing operational goals 24/7.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement staff training, education, and orientation programs.
- Collaborate with managers to ensure staffing levels align with patient needs.
- Participate in hiring, employee evaluations, and policy updates.
- Monitor and enhance quality standards, auditing for compliance and process improvements.
- Manage unit budgets, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing costs.
- Actively round on units, fostering visibility and engagement with staff.
- Collaborate with leadership to address staffing needs, problem-solving issues, and strategic initiatives.
- Occasionally take on patient assignments or provide staff support based on unit needs.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and an active RN license in Montana required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, or Leadership/Management preferred.
- Certifications in ACLS, ONS, and BLS required within three months of hire.
- Certification in specialty preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of five years as an Acute Care Clinical Leader.
- Two years of bedside RN experience, with competency in Med/Surg or ICU nursing.
- Proven success in collaborative physician partnerships, project management, and process improvement.
- Experience with union environments and managing diverse teams, including new graduate RNs.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Experience as a Unit Level Director strongly preferred.
